Muskrats will use old beaver lodges and dens for themselves, sometimes in sync with beavers. They cause incredible bank damage and can easily cause banks to collapse. This can lead to banks needing to be torn up and repacked to prevent any other major damage. Otters can quickly wipe out a pond stocked with fish. Within a few days, most of the fish have been ate and the otters will leave as soon as pickings get slim.

Muskrats come in high numbers and can take weeks to remove during the spring and summer season as they breed rapidly. Otters are in and out of a location very fast. The first sighting of an otter is the best time to call because waiting can lead to them disappearing before we get the chance to catch them.
